IV Score methodology
The IV Score is the public rating for a stock’s intrinsic value. The formula, the ten criteria and the thresholds are published.
The IV Score combines two blocks: an intrinsic value estimate per share, and a qualitative score out of 100 from ten fundamental criteria.
The value formula draws on value investing: earnings per share and book value per share. For faster-growing businesses it is complemented by a simplified discounted cash flow.
Eliminatory criteria (leverage, stable earnings, return on capital, positive free cash flow) weigh the most. Important criteria (P/E, revenue growth, net margin, moat) come next. Secondary criteria (management, dilution) complete the picture.
A score of 70 or more flags a name worth a closer look. Between 40 and 69 it is a candidate to study. Below 40, treat it with caution. These thresholds are indicative.
Margin of safety, (intrinsic value minus price) divided by price, sits next to the score. The score is not investment advice. Investing can lead to a loss of capital.
